The Saga of Traitor Mouse

Ok… who is Traitor Mouse? Whats the deal?

Traitor Mouse is a band from Minnesota. Comprised of Eric Distad, Jen Distad, and George Serumgard they play a unique blend of alt-folk-rock-blues-insert-random-musical-genre-here. Their music has been described as “Creative”, “Intelligent Lyrics and Catchy Melodies”, “I don’t know… just good, I guess”, and “Not the worst thing I’ve ever heard”.

In 2004, Singer-Songwriter Eric Distad, in an effort to justify his music gear spending habits, began playing songs he had written in local coffeeshops. Within a few short years, it became apparent that it was far more fun being ignored as a group than as a solo artist and so he recruited his multi-talented wife Jen to play Bass and Mandolin and friend and fellow fawmer George Serumgard to play drums, percussion, guitar, and anything else that looked cool. Together they formed, for lack of a better name, the Eric Distad Trio and played in venues around the Twin Cities to critical acclaim and financial ruin.

During February Album Writing Month in 2008, Eric wrote a song called Traitor Mouse. The group liked the name so much, they adopted it as their moniker. This newly renamed group is now storming the coffeeshops and small venues around the Twin Cities and surrounding areas to bring their unique blend of vaguely folk-ish mostly acoustic alt tongue in cheek rock to the masses.
